I have been increasing my contributions to Wikipedia lately. Although I’ve had an account for some time, I’ve only ever made minor edits — mostly copyediting and proofreading.

Lately though, I’ve even started to create new articles or adding information to existing articles.

Just like working on a collaborative coding project, where pushing broken code could end with me fucking up the entire application, I have the same worry when editing Wikipedia.

But it’s something I feel compelled to do.

I’ve been a beneficiary of this online encyclopaedia for so long. And this year, I want to keep giving back to platforms and people who have enriched my life.

Very often, we think about how much we can get. But I want to start thinking more about how much I can give

One of the Bible verses that my mom often quotes is, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (It’s from Acts 20:35 if you’re curious.)

Being able to give means that you have more than you need, which means that you have been blessed. You are in a position of excess.

I combine this idea with the law of attraction concept in Think and Grow Rich, which says that the more you focus on something, the likelier it is that you’ll receive it.

If you think excess, you will always have more than you need. The Universe will fill as much space as you open up to it.
